Today’s word of the day is supernatural.

Supernatural is a descriptive word therefore it is an adjective.

Supernatural has two meanings. Firstly it describes something as attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or natural laws. Secondly it describes something as being unnaturally or extraordinarily great.

An example of the word supernatural used as an adjective in a sentence would be:

A supernatural entity stood before her, she could barely process what she was seeing.

Or, His supernatural beauty left everyone in awe.

Supernatural can also be used as a noun, naming things that are considered to be of supernatural origin.

An example of the word supernatural used as a noun in a sentence would be:

It might be from the supernatural, but it is very cute.

Or, The supernatural investigation team attempts to find explanations for inexplicable events.

Synonyms: paranormal, psychic, magic, occult, mystical.

Antonyms: natural, normal, earthly, ordinary, human.
