Today’s word of the day is codify.

Codify is a doing word therefore it is a verb.

Codify has two definitions. Firstly it is to arrange laws or rules into a systematic code. Secondly it is it arrange something according to a plan or system.

An example of the word codify used in a sentence would be:

The commission was asked to revise and codify the laws regarding housing .

Or, The head nurse was working hard to codify the patients by order of severity so that the most severe cases would be seen first.

Synonyms: systemise, organise, arrange, order, structure.

Antonyms: disarrange, shuffle, disarray, scatter, disorder, .
