Listen "Making Higher Education More Affordable with: Joe Kerins"
Episode Synopsis
According to a Morning Consult Poll conducted in October 2022:
· A college education is widely perceived as unaffordable for most Americans, with 77% of U.S. adults saying a college degree would be difficult for someone like them to afford.
· 82% of women said a college degree would be difficult to afford, compared with 73% of men.
· Roughly 4 in 5 Black and Hispanic adults said college would be difficult to afford.
Joe Kerins, is a Certified College Planning Specialist, Certified College Funding Specialist, who Says:
“In 2015, while I was a Financial Advisor, I had a client ask for help in completing the dreaded FAFSA! I wasn't too familiar with it's inner workings at the time, so started to do some research. I quickly learned that I had no idea how College Financial Aid truly worked. Pretty much everything I thought to be true about financially planning for college was wrong!
At that point I dedicated all of my time to learn the ins and outs of the Financial Aid System. Through my studies, I gained the professional designation of a Certified College Planning Specialist and soon joined Elite Collegiate Planning to properly guide families on how to save for higher education.
I have helped families save thousands of dollars a year on college costs by maximizing their eligibility for financial aid and making schools with a sticker price of over $80,000 cost less than an In-State - State School.
In the past 5 years, I have increased my knowledge in the college arena and added the designations of a Certified College Funding Specialist and Education Loan Analyst, which adds me to a very select few who hold all these designations. As of January 2023, only 6 others in the country have earned these designations.
I now am also the Co-Host of the College Knowledge Podcast.” He joined me this week to tell me more.
