Steve Urquhart served in the Utah House as a prototypical conservative Republican from Washington County, and line-toeing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is now a co-founder of The Divine Assembly which is a church that uses magic mushrooms as their sacrament.
Urquhart has been willing to question what he’s been taught and confront his core beliefs. The journey started when he and his wife, Sara, while on a trip to Amsterdam, tried ayahuasca, which has powerful psychedelic effects and whose proponents say it can free their minds and reshape how they view life. The Divine Assembly believes in the divine power of responsible psilocybin use. The purpose of the Divine Assembly is to connect people, protect the responsible and religious use of psilocybin, and cultivate health and healing.
