It strikes me as peculiar that we so readily accept the notion that our work should be merely a means to sustain our living, rather than a living expression of our purpose. I have observed in myself and countless others this strange division, as though life were to be lived in compartments: here is where I earn, and there is where I live. Yet I wonder if this partition is not itself an artifice of our modern condition rather than a reflection of our nature. For when I examine those moments in my professional journey that have brought me the deepest satisfaction, they are invariably those in which my work and my sense of purpose aligned as one, like two rivers converging into a stronger current.
