Listen "How West Chester University became the 'Ivy League' of athletic training"
Episode Synopsis
Athletic trainers are incredibly important -- and not just for athletes. You can find athletic trainers at schools, hospitals, police and fire departments, performing arts education settings, and occupational health departments in any workplace and industry. And for the past fifty years, West Chester University has carved out a reputation for being at the forefront of teaching and training athletic trainers -- the 'Ivy League' of athletic training, as WCU Health Sciences dean Dr. Scott Heinerichs puts it. So how did the Harvard of athletic training end up in West Chester, Pennsylvania? What makes the program so special? And what's the future of the industry look like? Matt Leon caught up with Heinerichs to talk about it.
