Nurses and techs at Temple University Hospital have voted to authorize a strike. Their union says it would begin on Monday, Oct. 6 and end on Saturday, Oct. 11 -- unless they can agree to a new contract. It expires at the end of this month.
The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals has been calling for safer working conditions and a boost to benefits and staffing levels. Temple Health says it's "committed to a productive negotiation process" and it has contingency plans in place should the workers hit the picket line.
