Listen "Doris"
Episode Synopsis
Doris tell us the story of how a small-town girl from Vermont ended up moving to Nigeria in 1955 on the eve of its independence.
This tape is excerpted from a much longer interview done for research. It began raining in the middle of our interview and you will hear the rain thudding on the corrugated roof in the tape. It was recorded on an old microphone of mine that was good for my oral history interviews and bad for professional radio production. But I love this tape and Doris so dearly, it felt appropriate to share anyway.
