Baylands started as a small brewery located on Baylands Drive in Newlands, Wellington in 2012. Their humble beginnings were in a double garage under a house, where they brewed beer using a 300L system. As demand for their beer grew, they quickly outgrew the space and relocated to Petone in 2014, where they upgraded to a 1200L brewery.
Their first beer was launched in May 2013 at Goldings Free Dive, a popular Wellington freehouse dive bar. Since then, Baylands has been steadily expanding, and now boasts a 2500L brewery and a large tasting room in the heart of vibrant Petone. The tasting room features more than 30 taps offering beer, wine, and spirits, along with a menu of delicious BBQ-style burgers and tacos.
Baylands has recently installed a state-of-the-art canning machine from ABE, and remains a small, family-owned team dedicated to crafting exceptional independent beer.
