The morning brings spring snow flurries. Wind gusts rock the tall pines on the back edge of the yard where the mink lives. The yard is covered in grass now. Song sparrows striped in shades of brown and black-capped chickadees with white masks squabble over the fresh birdseed. A bright yellow goldfinch gets in on the action. A groundhog with beady eyes and fur like a stuffed animal waddles across the yard to the nettle patch and finds breakfast. It’s spring.
