Listen "Forget THE CORONA VIRUS! 3/28"
Episode Synopsis
Life has changed in the past few weeks. Many of us are home and glued to our televisions or social media. As for me, I have been working from home. My team and I still have our jobs, but we work from home on odd jobs and job-related training courses. In all honesty, I prefer to be out and about. I am sure you do as well. Over the past couple of days, I have grown even more grateful for the people in my life, family, and friends who, like me, are stuck at home. This time of seclusion has forced me to think about my life, the people in it, and review my focus on the years ahead. I started to ask myself some important questions.Maybe you may want to ask yourself some of the same. What am I really after in my LIfe?What do I genuinely want to create and contribute? What kind of person do I want to show to the world every day? You see, I found myself floundering a bit in this new circumstance—a bit like a fish out of water. I know from experience that to command our life's plan, we must have a sense of clarity and direction. When we experience significant disruption, like being laid off, having our hours cut, not being sure where our next dollar will be coming from, we can get pretty scared and frozen in time. Shake off the fear. One way to start the process is to break free from the hourly newscast; this practice only makes you feel worse and takes your focus off of productive actions for the future. After you have shut off your television, take a look at how you are spending your time right now. We can break down our day's activities into two categories: nonmeaningful activity and meaningful activity. Take a few minutes and evaluate how you have been spending your time in the past few days? Have you been glued to your television? There is nothing wrong with getting an update on the Corona Virus, but after we have been enlightened, we must let go and get on with being productive. Reevaluate how you are spending your time right now and redirect yourself on a path of meaning.Create a list of meaningful activities you can participate in while staying home. Take a class, take an exercise program on the internet, take a long power walk, read a couple of good books, organize your house, take on a deep cleaning project, and get caught up with those you love. Use this unusual time to grow and prepare for the next chapter of your life, because this pandemic will end. Work on you so that when you get back into the real world of the living, you are ready to take on that world. Invest in yourself. Some ideas on classes are "Great Courses". They are offering their wonderful courses for free while we are all going through this difficult time. Udemy offers full courses from $9.99 to $11.99 per entire course. Truly a deal. EDx offers Free (challenging) courses from Ivy League universities such as Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, to name a few. There are numerous exercise programs on youtube as well, such as singing courses, art classes, and lectures on a multitude of topics. Forget about this Corona Virus for a while and prepare for when it is defeated because it will be defeated. It is just a matter of time. https://www.thegreatcoursesplus.com/medical-myths-lies-and-half-truths-what-we-think-we-know-may-be-hurting-us?tn=Watchlist+Lectures_2_0&lec=12&M_BT=15767846724
