From TomBoy to Lash Extensions
To me growing up it wasn’t safe to shine my feminine beauty & womanhood. I didn’t want to be SEEN in that way. It scared me. I shut down my feminine, covered myself up with oversized T-shirts, wore my hair in my face, never learned to wear makeup, avoided dresses, heels & anything that hung tight on my curves.
When I started my business back in the mid 2000’s, I hired a stylist who educated, empowered & influenced me to shine brightly, wear clothes that fit my body type & that were “on brand.”
I remember once showing up to meet her at a boutique after a Birkam yoga class wearing no makeup & post yoga gear, she ripped me a new A - hole. She said “Amanda you are a coach! You need to SHOW UP like you give a shit!”
I didn’t get it. I wanted people to like me for me & not for my looks! I resisted her. I was scared of stepping into my power. Felt it safer to hide behind my post yoga look than truly be SEEN.
It took me into my early 30’s to TURN THAT LIGHT ON & show up as the Super Nova God made me to be.
Last week I took it to a new level with microblading my blonde brows to eye lash extensions! (Which I LOVE!!)
In a million years, I never would have thought I would make these upgrades.
I feel beautiful with no make up, in my mountain bike clothes or on a hike.
These upgrades don’t define me or make me feel more valuable but they do help me SHOW UP to serve in a bigger way.
I’m not doing it for my own vanity, I’m doing it for my purpose, my family, my legacy, my mission, my impact.
Because people do make first impressions of you in 3 seconds. I want to look like I feel on the inside which is fired up, powerful & on purpose.
When we consistently don’t give a hoot about our image, we create an energetic leak in our ability to RECEIVE, LEAD & Serve.
