Pedro H. da Silva is a multicultural composer, equally at home writing for orchestra, for film, a Middle Eastern ensemble, and his rock band Tritone King. He’s also an innovator of the Portuguese guitar, classical guitar, and other plucked string instruments. Pedro has performed and recorded his own works as a soloist with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the London Metropolitan Orchestra, and Orchestre Lamoureux in Paris, among others. The José Limón Dance Company commissioned Pedro to compose a ballet performed and recorded by the Manhattan Camerata, a chamber ensemble he co-founded with his wife Lucia Caruso. Equally acclaimed as a film music composer, Pedro received awards at the Cannes Film Festival, Sundance, South by Southwest, and at the Venice Biennale. The films he has worked on have been the official selection of more than 60 international festivals. Pedro is a faculty member at New York University teaching composition, guitar, mandolin, banjo, and sitar.
