Ruhia is a Master TetraMap Facilitator, and like all great teachers is also a student of learning. She is currently studying full time at Waikato University. And taking a total immersion course in Te Reo – called Te Tohu Paetahi and for those that don’t know Te Reo is the language for Maori – the indigenous peoples of New Zealand .
Working with and learning from the wisdom of Maori is and always has been very important to us at TetraMap and Ruhia has played a generous and significant part in that. In this episodes she describes the practices and principles that govern Maori values and beliefs and how nature plays such an important role in her culture. .
We met back in 2011 – just after the massive Christchurch earthquake, and I remember the day very well. Since then, we have enjoyed a long- lasting relationship with Ruhia and the team she worked with her through her previous role in Practice Excellence, at Te Wananga O Aotearoa.
Whilst at Te Wananga, Ruhia wrote a case study which you can see on TetraMap's website. It explores how they used TetraMap to develop a unique indigenous communication model that supports cultural diversity, fosters stronger leadership and deepens the educational experience for both tutors and students.

Ruhia's quote was one handed down by her own mother, relating to Earth, Air, Water and Fire. "When one of these Elements is missing, the body, soul and mind become unwell."
