My introduction to https://soundcloud.com/magisteriumbeats 's sound was by accident. One of his tracks popped up in the "More of What You Like" selection on SoundCloud a while back and it perked my ears.
After checking out his SC page, I realized the force behind it is none other than Antony O'Loughlin, the owner and curator of https://soundcloud.com/the-games-we-play and https://soundcloud.com/darkplayrecords who has been at the forefront of showcasing and promoting some of the best dark electronic music in recent years.

Honestly, the Magisteruim's sound took me some time to process. There were a lot of things happening on most tracks : spoken words, noise samples, scratches, static sounds, background ambient noise, etc. But somehow they were all fused together with a superb overlay of melodic vibes, soulful vocals, and super chill sprinkles of piano and cello. The clutter worked somehow but it needed some sifting through and patience for me. The more I listened, the clearer the storyline emerged in my mind and in my heart.

This (so-called) mix is my own synthesis of his incredible body of work so far. I consider it nothing but a stitch-up job of a select few of https://soundcloud.com/magisteriumbeats tracks that have sunken deeper in my psyche than the rest. It is an attempt to pull together a collection of sound vignettes in hopes of creating a story, a memory ...a tribute.
