Listen "Episode 50: The Rest Is A Ministry"
Episode Synopsis
The sh*t we not fuxing with today is exhaustion, You don't need to fall out to know that rest is needed. The end of the year brings non-stop activity, a swirl of to-dos, in addition to all of the other must do's of which include just living life. The word that has been coming to me lately is exhaustion. No, I'm not training for a marathon, but I did not account for the energy that it takes to life, actively change neuropathways, and get mentally cracked open while processing emotional wounds never prior considered. That sh*t is exhausting - who knew? I never prepared for the tiredness that the pathway to healing entails. I am ti-red. I've said it aloud to myself by myself. Almost as a reminder to me that I actually was, less I forget and do nothing about it. But as always the messages that I need to hear are always timely delivered, even at a burlesque striptease magic show (the Universe is creative with her message delivery). It was at this magic show that it was again reiterated that deep rest is required for the healing in which I need and I seek. Rest however eludes many, especially when pushed up against the framework of hardwork to the point of exhaustion - a white supremacist framework meant to make Black people more "palatable." It is in the rest that we are free and have the capacity to dream. Rest is what God offers when He calls the weary to Him. It is the rest that is the restoration. Thus it is of no surprise that integrating the ministry of rest into our lives can be interpreted as revolutionary - the power that rest offers is enough to change our cells in the present.
