Episode Synopsis

We fuxing with Hollywood again this week. I don't usually keep up with the celebritiesm, however, Black Hollywood has provided excellent fodder for some of the issues that Uppity Black Women are forced to navigate. Today we use the probable (and I say probable because Halle has neither confirmed or denied that she is indeed pregnant. So until I see a hand fall out of a vagina, the word is probable).  Ms. Halle of Chloe x Halle, Grownish, Little Mermaid (gasp! She's is Black!) fame, is perhaps pregnant by a dude who goes by the name DDG (no that is not the name his mama gave him). The people certainly had something to say about this pregnancy and the likely impregnator.  The feedback from the people was one of almost disbelief that Halle would allow such a person to be the father of a child she bore. I posit that the judgement and disbelief stem from DDG not looking like what we think an Uppity Black Woman should want to be with. And that of course is a man with all of the accoutrements - even though the accoutrements may just be shiny baubles that distract you from the mismatch of your relationship. DDG has significant accoutrements of his own, accoutrements that put him in a completely different, far superior (in my opinion) position - when compared to our degreed, suited, and booted usual selections. This speaks to the work Uppity Black Women must do in order to open our eyes to the lavish possibilities that are available to us. We'll also examine the comments made about Halle's probable pregnancy and tie it to the freedom people feel they have to comment on Black Woman's bodies. I reason these comments are not really from a place of malice or judgement, but really from a place of protection and a fear buried deep in our cells, from a time when our souls remember the indignities and the inhumanities reined upon pregnant Black Women during slavery. The world is not a safe place for Black Woman generally, and a heightened sense of vulnerability and exposure is added when she is carrying our literal lifelines.REFERENCES IN TODAY'S EPISODECard 1: SOUL - What Does My Soul Need Me to Know: Yasigi - Live out loudCard 2: MIND - What am I really thinking or feeling? Mbokomu - Soul ForgivenessCard 3: BODY - What is happening with me physically? a-Bol-Nimba - HarvestHalle BaileyWho is DDG?
