Episode Synopsis

What we not fuxing with today is getting thrown off of our foundations, because of other people's emotional garbage. Monica had it so right  - you can't take it personal.  We examine this idea of not taking other's actions towards us personally, through the lens of Don Miguel Ruiz's text, The Four Agreements. The Second Agreement, "Don't Take Anything Personally" is critical for the Uppity Black Woman's success. When we stay dedicated to not taking anything personally, we limit the suffering we experience as we accept and recognize that even when people's poor actions are directed towards us, at a granular level the action actually has nothing to do with us, but rather with that person's own inner turmoil. There is an immense freedom that comes to you when you take nothing personally - you become immune to the predators who know that you are easy prey.  We examine how not taking it personally works, when the n***a who drops bombs regularly in my life and my daughter's life, presents himself and his emotional poison at a critical moment. His addiction to suffering is one that he reinforces everyday - it does not mean I have to stay in the den of suffering with him. When we actively choose not to eat the emotional poison directed to us, by not taking it personally, the poison becomes worse in the sender, but not in you.REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEAffirmative ReAction - Funny Black Female Comedians, A Live Comedy RecordingDon Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements: A Toltec Wisdom BookEric Thomas, ChargeIf you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You!
