Episode Synopsis

What we not fuxing with today is how the Uppity Black Woman in America (emphasis on America) has the ability to sanitize the concept of class and classism. We'll revisit a recent sojourn to the Sojourn Cabins, a beautiful boutique hotel fronting the Atlantic Ocean and reconcile it with a nearby dungeon along the Cape Coast where Black Peoples were held, brutalized, and tortured before being taken away to be used as slaves in the Americas. Nestled in between the Sojourn Cabins and the dungeon is abject poverty (abject poverty as viewed from this Uppity Black Woman's eyes) and a memorial that is a call to the people of the Diaspora to return home. What does this all mean for the Uppity Black Woman, given the Uppity Black Woman in America has options to travel to these places because she is in America? Like I said, it's complex. Without sanitizing these concepts of class, we discuss the in your face nature of the impact of have and have not and how that positions the Black Woman  for a life of toil, regardless of where she calls home.REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEFemi Kuti (note in today's episode, I referece Femi's dad Fela Kuti) The song with the line "Africa na Portuguese name" is by Femi Kuti, Alkebu-Lan (Cradle of Civilization), is from the Album, Fight to Win.If you are ever in this part of the world, be sure to pay a visit to Sojourn Cabins!
