As a child, Kim Duri fell in love with the wonders of the great outdoors and wildlife during her time in Tanzania, and dreamt of becoming an elephant trainer or a wildlife photographer. However, life took her on a different path, far removed from those dreams. But her fate led her to work at a horse riding stable, where she discovered the importance of communication and training with horses. She began adopting retired horses, spending time with them, and training them through communication. In the pursuit of raising horses in a better environment, she relocated to Jeju Island. Currently, she resides in a spacious rural area in the mid-mountainous area with her husband, two daughters, and seven horses. From the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep, she lives closely with the horses, caring for them, communicating with them, and striving to provide them with better education. In order to promote her unique training methods and the development of a more compassionate horse culture, Kim Duri established Herd and Heart. Through this platform, she shares videos and messages about the training process, seeking to raise awareness and understanding of her training approach and the value of proper horse care and communication.
