He was born and raised in Pyeongdae-ri, Jeju City. After briefly studying at a univeristy on the mainland, he returned to his hometown and has been farming for 45 years. One day, he heard a life story of an elderly villager who was over 90 years old, and his eyes opened to the untold stories of the village. For three years, he met with 33 elderly villagers and collected stories about the village. As a result, for the past seven years, he has been working as a village tour guide, introducing Pyeongdae-ri village to people. He also helps young people settle in the village and established cooperatives with the villagers to engage in various activities. He dreams of Pyeongdae-ri becoming a wonderful village to live in, a harmonious village, and he continues to diligently gather people to strive for such goal.
