Episode Synopsis
Dr. Cassandra L. Simmons is a Licensed Associate Sex Offender Treatment Provider for the State of Illinois, conducting trauma-based therapy with children, adolescents, and adults in community-based forensics. Currently, Dr. Simmons is a Drug Abuse Program Coordinator for the Department of Justice and Adjunct Professor with Grand Canyon University College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Listen as she shares her personal story of growing up in the inner city of Cleveland, Ohio, sexual abuse, and the historical trauma that plagued her family. Dr. Simmons aides us in an understanding of the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual effects of historical trauma and the self-care rituals that lead to resolving trauma.
