Listen "Jeremiah part 4"
Episode Synopsis
This is the final in the Jeremiah series.
Jeremiah 39:6 Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylon also slew all the nobles of Judah. 7 He then blinded Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in fetters of bronze to bring him to Babylon.
Zedekiah was made an example of and watched in horror as his sons died. The nobles who had treated Jeremiah so poorly and wanted him dead, are now killed. Then they gouge out Zedekiah’s eyes, physically making him blind to coincide with his spiritual blindness. After all this, he is still taken captive to Babylon. His worst fears are proved true for rejecting God. This all could have been prevented by listening to the Word of God. Maybe instead of putting out his eyes, they should have cut off his ears for not listening.
8 The Chaldeans also burned with fire the king’s palace and the houses of the people, and they broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
What a terrible and sad day. No wonder Jeremiah wept. This would have to be one of the most horrible sights, to see your city destroyed with fire, the walls broken down and everyone taken captive to a foreign land.
