Listen "Go!"
Episode Synopsis
Our commission is to GO and make disciples.
In Acts 2, we saw how the Holy Spirit descended on each of them as tongues of fire. The birth of the Church brought excitement and danger. As each member was filled with the Spirit, they boldly confessed the risen Christ everywhere that they went. We find them earlier in the Book and at the end of Luke, hiding in an upper room with locked doors. After the Baptism in the Spirit, we see them proclaiming publicly that Christ was alive. The boldness and passion that they had was evident to all. Even when beaten for preaching Christ, they rejoiced that they could suffer for the Name.
Acts chapter 13 begins the transition from the focus of the ministry of Peter, to that of Saul, commonly called Paul. Strong persecution hit the Church and the believers, and they scattered far and wide with the Gospel. It wasn't long before the centre of ministry shifted from Jerusalem to Antioch.
Acts 13:2 While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul (Paul) for the work to which I have called them.”
