970.306.6432Don’t get caught in this trap…Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every day of the week!  This is message #93 and I am Aaron Havens.Definitives can be dangerousI learned a long time ago to be cautious when I hear definitives.  And when I catch myself using definitives I pause and think if that is accurate.  When I draw a circle around something by saying “I would NEVER do that”… for real… do I mean that?  That’s pretty extreme.  So much of life is situational and it really depends.Of course when a sales person says something like “this is THE BEST purchase you’ve ever made”… that’s a bit of context and we could pick that apart their excitement for sure. Words like like "always," "never," "everyone," and "no one." can have profound effects on our understanding and relationships and business/family culture.Definitives tend to develop a black-and white view of the world.  Not ALL dentists are horrible, NOT ALL technology is taking over the world and as hard as it is to believe not ALL politicians are thieves and liars…hahaBeyond getting a rigid world view, definitives can stunt our personal growth and development.  When we tell ourselves "I never succeed" or "I'm always bad at this,” our slippery slope of speaking that truth into existence has begun."Beware of the man who knows the answer before he understands the question." - UnknownThat’s right my friends, lets stay curious let’s have a bigger world view.My friends.  Catch yourself and the world today before you fall into the trap of definitives.  Consider those worlds wisely.  Determine where you mean it with all your being.  Our vocabulary is super important as it sets our course in these ways.  Thanks for calling in today.  Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic.  At the sound of the beep: I want to know from you.  Are you a person, in a family or at a place of work that is closed in view and rigid in thought?  Is that working for you?  Let’s pick this apart.  I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic!https://growthinstigators.com/
