Focus on the senses: Use grounding techniques like the things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste) to help shift focus to the present moment. Examine probable vs. possible: Help the individual distinguish between realistic possibilities and exaggerated fears, gently challenging negative thoughts without dismissing their feelings. Reassure them: Remind the person of their strengths and ability to handle challenges, emphasizing that the anxious feelings will pass. Seek help if needed: Encourage the individual to consider professional help if their anxiety is severe or significantly impacting their daily life. Educate yourself about anxiety: Understanding the signs and symptoms of anxiety, as well as the various types of anxiety disorders, Listen actively and validate their feelings: Allow the person to express their feelings without judgment, showing empathy and understanding their experience.
