If you’re new to this Green Pastures devotional flow, the Saturday entry is usually a bit of a change-up in pace and content. Generally there’s no daily reading and no question prodding personal reflection, only a reading or perhaps a poem or some pertinent musing that serves as something of the capstone to the week’s content – or at least a worthy topping on it all like that proverbial icing on the cake. This week, I can’t help but run an extended portion of that conversation between Frodo and Sam in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings (you read the trilogy this week as supplemental content, yes?) as Sam asks what sort of tale it is that they’ve fallen into. So many parallels between them and us – and the tales we have respectively fallen into indeed…
