Netflix is only one out of numerous organizations obliging employees to return to the office, be it on a full- or part-time basis. For a group of employees, including those who wish to spend more quality time at home with their children, or those who are introverted and prefer working in calm work environments, return-to-office policies can cause fears and doubts. The latter, in turn, risk impacting people's overall performance and effectiveness in their roles, which can lead to an increase of opportunity costs for companies. In other words, if employers become dissatisfied and therefore less effective in their roles, their employees risk missing out on potential business opportunities and losing time to generate profit. Doesn't it sound like the opposite of a win-win situation – as in, a 'lose-lose situation'?
