Episode Synopsis

Psalm 1:3 (NKJV) - “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”We all desire happiness. Many think it comes from a better job, more money, or perfect relationships. Yet, happiness often seems difficult to find, even for those who chase it earnestly. Psalm 1 teaches us that true happiness is a by-product of a different pursuit — the pursuit of righteousness.Psalm 1:1-3 says, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”This passage presents a contrast between two paths: the way of the righteous and the way of the ungodly. The righteous person finds delight in God’s Word, continually meditating on it. This delight leads to a life deeply rooted in God, much like a tree planted by streams of water. Such a tree is strong, fruitful, and enduring, symbolising stability and growth that come from a constant source of nourishment. At our present time, distractions are everywhere. Social media, news, and the opinions of others can easily lead us astray. But Psalm 1 reminds us to be cautious of the counsel we follow and the company we keep. True happiness and fulfilment come not from external circumstances but from a life grounded in God’s Word.Reflecting on my own life, I realise that when I prioritise spending time with God, meditating on His Word, and applying His teachings, I experience a deeper, more lasting joy. This doesn’t mean my life is free of challenges, but I find strength and resilience, knowing I am rooted in His truth.Today, consider where you are seeking happiness. Are you looking to external factors that can change or fade away, or are you grounding yourself in the unchanging Word of God? Make a commitment to spend time daily in Scripture, allowing it to nourish and guide you. As you do, you will find that true happiness is not something you chase but a gift you receive as you walk in God’s ways.Prayer:Lord, help us to delight in Your Word and meditate on it day and night. May we be like trees planted by streams of water, strong and fruitful in every season. Guide our steps and help us to find true happiness in You. Amen.
