Listen "Be Sober and Vigilant"

Episode Synopsis

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour”. - 1 Peter 5:8 Be on guard. The devil can ride on your concern to make you anxious.  As Peter rightly described, the devil is the Christians' adversary. He awaits an opportunity to attack our hearts and minds through doubt, discouragement, and despair. He can craftily ride on pride to create disharmony. He can heighten the pressure on your shoulder when facing hard and challenging situations. He can zoom into your mind any concern you care about. Peter knew how the devil operates—he catches us during our weak moments. He catches us when we look fearful and worried. He is not omniscient, but he and his minions can observe our reactions and expression. So be sober (or alert) and watchful. By having a sound and clear mind, you can exercise self-control, especially when the condition doesn't seem right, provocative, and disheartening. Be sober and vigilant so the devil can't exploit your weakness and situation. But cast your cares on God, be thankful for His help and grace, and rest when you are tired. Remember, your best moment is your time alone with God. And your worst moment is alone in your times of weakness. May you practice alertness and vigilance so the devil will not victimize you.
