The world instinctively rejects the notion that suffering can serve any good purpose, but the inspired Scriptures say differently. In fact, the Bible teaches the possibility of experiencing “redemptive suffering.” Russian author of the classic War and Peace once wrote, “It is by those who have suffered that the world has advanced.” Paul suffered deeply and yet his ministry transformed the world.
