Listen "Realness African Screenwriters Residency"
Episode Synopsis
In this week’s Gateway to Africa, the Realness African Screenwriters Residency has developed 20 film projects in 13 African countries in its four years running. One of the films produced was ‘This is Not a Burial, It's a Resurrection’ which is directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese and produced by Cait Pansegrouw and Elias Ribeiro of Urucu Media. The film competed in the 2020 Sundance Film Festival's World Dramatic Competition section to critical review in Utah, the United States of America. It was awarded the Special Jury Prize for Visionary Filmmaking. Realness African Screenwriter’s Residency is an institute that provides African film projects the support and resources needed at the development stage of a film. And the South African Department of Arts and Culture and the Presidency and other stakeholders hosted a Social Cohesion summit last Friday in Pretoria. We hear how this will impact the film industry and South African tourism.
