Listen "Fertilising the Future"
Episode Synopsis
In this insightful episode of *Future Fit with Friska*, we debate the question: must future fit organizations be sustainable ones? What better guest to sit down with about this topic other than Tobias Wilson, the innovative founder of BUMI and Shiva, to explore his journey from the high-paced world of advertising to becoming a leader in sustainable technology. Tobias shares his unique perspective on how his background in advertising, combined with his passion for environmental sustainability, led to the creation of groundbreaking solutions for managing food waste in Indonesia and beyond. We dive deep into the concepts of future fitness and leadership, discussing the critical importance of balancing technological innovation with a people-centered approach that cultivates alignment not opposition. Tobias also reflects on his personal journey, including his move from Singapore to Bali after 17 years, and how these experiences shaped his vision for the future of business in Asia. This episode is a must-listen for leaders looking to align their organizations with the future through sustainable practices and servant leadership.
About Tobias Wilson:
Tobias Wilson has traversed Australia, Singapore, and now Bali, encompassing diverse roles such as Founder, Regional Director, Vice President, Managing Director, Chief Growth Officer, and CEO.
Concurrently, he has served in senior board and advisory capacities for start-ups and industry organizations. His time in Bali has been marked by extensive engagement with brands concerning their ESG/CSR objectives and hurdles.
Tobi has closely interacted with innovators and activists dedicated to addressing crucial issues aligning with these objectives, alongside broader challenges confronting our island, nation, and planet. This impelled him to establish BUMI, aiming to expedite the proliferation and adoption of such solutions. Amid this journey, he identified a less-developed and often overlooked yet critical area: organic waste management. Over the last ten months, the team at Shiva has crafted a proprietary aerobic digestion system right here in Bali, guided by insights from a panel of global digestion industry experts to help tackle the gigantic problem we face here, and to also put Bali on the map in the field of organic waste management in the region and beyond.
