Lauren Ammon joins Michael Rasile on For the Love of Sports to discuss her division 1 swimming career, the hard truths around the end of it, and what she is doing now to help other athletes through these types of transitions.
After her swamming career ended at Eastern Michigan, Lauren had a hard time coping with 17 years of her life ending abruptly. It took her many years before she could even come to terms with it. She then found out that she's not the only one and this is more common than not in elite athletes.
Lauren has now started a coaching program specifically for athletes to help them connect with their sports but also understands that their sport is giving them skills and attributes that will be very useful after their careers come to an end. Working with high school aged kids, Performance Reimagined is helping athletes cope with all of the difficulties that come with their sports while giving them the support they need.
