In this episode we are joined by 96 year old, World War II veteran, retired Petty Officer Second Class, U.S. Navy, Mr. Burke Waldron. Burke takes us back to his childhood in Utah, where he reminisces about playing in the sandlots with a stitched up ball of yarn and gathering with his friends at his dad’s barbershop to listen to Yankees games. Burke also talks about his 3 year deployment in the U.S. Navy and describes what it was like to take part in the invasion of Saipan, which would turn out to be a life changing moment for him. We then flash forward a few years and learn about his world famous first pitch at a Seattle Mariners game that would eventually earn him his own Topps Baseball Card.
