The Hon. Robert French AC speaks on the future legal issues of formalising a treaty agreement with Australia's First Nations people.
Mr French served as a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia from November 1986 until his appointment as Chief Justice of the High Court on 1 September 2008. From 1994 to 1998 he was the President of the National Native Title Tribunal.
He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Australia and Monash University, a Distinguished Honorary Professor at the Australian National University and an Honorary Professorial Fellow at Melbourne University Law School.
Mr French was elected as Chancellor of the University of Western Australia in December 2017.
