Listen "Training for Triumph EP. 152"
Episode Synopsis
You may have heard about the strength required to throw a punch, but today, we’re exploring the resilience it takes
to withstand a punch and press on. It reminds me of a quote from a philosopher of our modern era, Rocky Balboa, who said, “It’s not about how hard you can hit, but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” There’s truth in these words, a truth that life itself teaches us, if we’re willing to learn.
In the Gospel of Mark, chapter 6, verse 48, we find a powerful lesson on a stormy sea. The disciples are straining at the oars, the wind against them, and Jesus walks on water, intending to pass them by. Why He chose to change His course and calm the storm is not detailed in Scripture, but His initial intention was clear, to let them keep rowing, to let them train. In our struggles, we find our strength, and in our perseverance, we draw closer to
God.
Life’s rhythm is marked by storms. We may be entering one, enduring one, or emerging from one. But remember, it’s all training. Each challenge, each betrayal, each hardship is an opportunity to grow, to become more like our Teacher, to align our steps with His, and to expect opposition as a sign of our faithfulness.
So, as we embark on today’s discussion, let’s embrace the training life offers. Let’s ask ourselves, “What is God teaching me through this?” And let’s keep rowing, keep moving, for we are far tougher than we realize. We are survivors, shaped by the trials we’ve overcome, and we will continue to thrive, not despite the storms, but because of them.
