In this Theology in the Public Square interview, Dean Kelly Brown Douglas will speak with The Rev. Canon Dr. Vicentia Kgabe, rector of College of Transfiguration in Grahamstown, South Africa. Born in Soweto, Dr Kgabe attended schools in Soweto and trained at the College of the Transfiguration. She continued her theological education at the University of Pretoria, where she obtained a Ph.D. in Practical Theology.


Dean Douglas and Dr. Kgabe will discuss the increased spread of coronavirus in South Africa, which recently surpassed its 500,000 confirmed Covid-19 infection, as well the continued issue of white racism which remains a societal and an institutionalized problem in post- Apartheid South Africa. This conversation took place on Facebook Live, Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
