Ed Varso joined the City team in 2001 when he was hired as a Police Officer by the Escondido Police Department, and was promoted to Escondido Chief of Police January 1, 2020. Varso knows the workings of the Escondido Police Department thoroughly, since he has worked in nearly every division within the Department.We discuss the readiness of the Department to respond to emergencies, as well as the other day to day work of keeping the community safe, and the potential impacts to Police services if Measure I passes or fails.
