"Magic is a choice. it comes from within…So let me get into the science of it just really fast. when you’re depressed you actually don’t process colors the same way… the brightness of the tones that you see becomes very narrow when you’re depressed. So the world that very depressed people see is a lot more bland than what people who are vibrant and in a good part of their life see. So knowing that, it’s important to reframe the world around you. That’s why I have these strategically placed little bits of joy — because it’s so easy to fall into that bland way of seeing. And you have to make a decision for yourself — “that’s not what I want to see.”

How are you empowering yourself these days? How are you finding magic in the world? One of the many things I’ve been doing lately in my never-ending quest to find magic is participating more in the local spiritual community..and that’s how I met this episode’s guest.

I went to an open house at a place called Sakala last week. It’s a really beautiful place in Denver where all sorts of services are offered. It’s a great space, and I encourage you to learn more about it.

A Radiant Being
At the open house, I noticed there was a woman near me sitting on the floor who seemed to be very happily working on an iPad. I could see that she was working on what looked to be sigils, so I said “I really like what you’re working on…are those sigils?” and she looked up at me with the most radiant, beaming face and she said “Hi! I’m Sequoia!”

I thought “Wow, I don’t know who this person is, but I want to find out more about them.”
