Listen "Articulation - say what you mean, mean what you say"
Episode Synopsis
Happy New Year! High hopes.
We welcome you into 2022 with this episode on Articulation. Sometimes it’s hard to find the words in a disagreement, even if normally you’re good with them. Or maybe you find a lot of words, but in the moment they tumble out in a big confusing mess, while your Very Important Point ends up lost at sea somewhere.
That's what we're talking about in today’s episode: how to find the words, and indeed why finding them matters at all. Lizzie and Hannah have different relationships to articulation, and they explore how they can help each other out. The episode features Alba Woolard, a comedy improvisor and a communicator working in healthcare settings in the USA. Alba talks us through techniques you may be familiar with (“Yes and”), as well as some concepts that might feel more new – and that left Hannah and I with the distinct impression that bad disagreements give you blisters. Listen and let us know if you agree?
PLEASE NOTE: in 2022, we will be releasing episodes fortnightly, ie every 2 weeks. Gives you time to practice disagreeing in between!
