Most cosmologists and space scientists agree that the cosmos must be "fine-tuned" to permit life to exist, but opinions differ greatly when it comes to explaining how this came about. To some it is just an accident of nature, to others it suggests the existence of a "multiverse" in which only a few among millions of possible universes can offer life-sustaining conditions.
