Western Bluebirds are a small thrush that can sometimes be found in backyard nest boxes. Sometimes, if you sit quietly and listen, you can observe a lot in your own backyard!
Western Bluebirds are a small thrush that can sometimes be found in backyard nest boxes. The males are bright blue and rust colored. Western Bluebird females are a little less flashy. Here, a neighbor’s wind chimes can be heard in the background as Western Bluebird chicks chatter softly in their nest box. Two adults are making their own calls further out in the yard. As the male Western Bluebird flies up to the entrance the chicks get very excited. That’s because he’s there to feed them! Sometimes, if you sit quietly and listen, you can observe a lot in your own backyard!
