After the Neurofunk show from four weeks ago, I figured it would be good to focus on what I always considered 'Technoid' DnB back in the day. The lines are blurry between Neurofunk, Technoid, and Techstep. For me, Technoid is less funk, more two-step beats, nasty melodic stabs and riffs, and more techno-like percussion. Surely some of the tracks in this mix could be considered Techstep as well, especially the Usual Suspect ones. It seems that a few years later (this was the view in 2001~2003 I'd say), the term 'Technoid' was more applied to the heavier techno-influenced stuff like the OffKey label and Proket/Prode tunes, for example. For me however, it will always be what this mix is about, with the heavy influence from Kemal & Rob Data, Stakka & Skynet, early BSE, Sinthetix, some C4C, etc! I really enjoyed this show, and I hope you have too.
