Listen "IS VIOLENCE EVER JUSTIFIED?"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textIs violence ever justified? .... - No one except the very disturbed likes violence. Religious people, peaceniks and romantics loudly espouse peaceful living as ethically and morally correct. Some strongly support the exhortation to turn the other cheek when struck, meaning that one shouldn't strike back. More practical people, some would say more realistic, would disagree saying violence or fighting can be justified. Indeed it should be used. But how? To defend yourself against aggression, attacks and invasion are the main reasons given to justify the use of violence. How about rising and striking first when one senses a threat that looks certain to do the same? And honour - should violence/fighting be used to avenge? Lee grew up on the mean streets of southern England while Keith grew up among peaceful country folk along the coast of Australia. Sharing their insights along with their personal experience led to an interesting discussion. Support the show
