Listen "Episode 101 - Sophie Grant"
Episode Synopsis
Kia Ora Whanau. Into our second century we are straight back to the mountains of Italy to speak to Sophie Grant. Sophie lived in the South Island until launching her OE in 2004 with her husband. Fast forward 16 years and Sophie has podiumed at Transgrancanaria, came fourth at Marathon des Sables, won the Lakes Sky Ultra and represented Great Britain at the world trail running championships. If this wasn’t enough, Sophie and George gave up their London home and have spent the last few years chasing adventure and the mountains in Europe. Sophie talks to us about her journey from her first half marathon to elite trail runner, her stance on gender equality, and increased representation in the sport, pulling exactly no punches. We discuss the impact that the pandemic has had on racing, training, and life - and how her focus is now even more firmly on adventure. Heck, Sophie was off to climb a mountain (like, a proper one) after our conversation with her coach Robbie Britton. Enjoy
