Episode Synopsis "MSc Finance and Private Equity [Video]"

Contributor(s): Dr Ulf Axelson, Arif Naqvi, Professor Christopher Polk, Professor Dmitri Vayanos, Professor Daniel Ferreira | LSE academics present an overview of the Masters in Finance and Private Equity programme. The MSc Finance and Private Equity programme is the first of its kind in the world, offering students a generalist Finance Masters with a special focus on the study and practice of private equity. Following a major investment initiative into the research and study of private equity at LSE by Abraaj Capital, students will benefit from being part of an exciting environment where world renowned academic faculty and leading practitioners discuss and contribute to the development of the field. The programme is built upon, and follows a similar structure to, the Department’s highly successful MSc Finance (Full-time) Programme, with the addition of a dedicated course taught by the School’s Abraaj Capital Chair in Private Equity. This will explore the structure of private equity (PE) funds and how they can be used in start-ups, in scaling-up cash flow businesses, and in restructuring firms facing financial distress via a range of lecture, discussion, research and practitioner-led teaching.
