22 - Soul

15/10/2020 1h 3min Temporada 1 Episodio 28

Listen "22 - Soul"

Episode Synopsis

Time to talk about that movie where Jamie Foxx played a glowing blue character. No, not The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It is Pixar’s Soul! Definitely in the spirit of the season, because what could be scarier than…being dead but also not? All right, I’m gonna level with you all. I just wanted this to be movie episode 22 since there’s a character called 22. Been wanting to talk about this one for a while, and I finally got to talk about it with Jake Damon, who has been a co-host on various episodes of the Intergalactic Peace Coalition.

First, we talked about the short film that preceded Soul, which is called Burrow. (And it was National Bunny Day, weirdly enough). Then we got into our Soul discussion, talking about the animation, the music, and the existential questions. We also talked about Pixar, Dreamworks, Studio Ghibli, Cartoon Network, and even our creative writing endeavors. This episode is good for the soul! (Also, pardon the overlapping voices every now and then. I did what I could in post.)

Show Notes:

9:20 - Cartoon Network City - Bumpers HQ Compilation

9:30 - The Miguzi Collection Complete

18:00 - I should mention that Dreamworks does do 2D shows on Netflix, such as The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. The former captures the tone of the books, and the latter just finished telling its story, which was amazing.

30:00 - This process of “unlocking” actually reminds me of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

41:30 - Try not to cry watching this.

42:00 - Here’s that mashup.

44:25 - More about “Sonny’s Blues.”

50:50 - I love Seinfeld so much that I recently co-hosted an IPC episode about it with Ben Hart, which will be on the IPC feed sometime soon.

53:15 - It happened in the Jeff Goldblum episode.

1:02:55 - It actually ended up arriving on September 28, two days later. Wow.
