Listen "Country Today - October 2nd"
Episode Synopsis
After a very slow start in responding to the spreading drought in Victoria by the State Government, it seemed to be making substantial progress with the appointment of a drought taskforce and regular meetings. But that appears to have ground to a halt. The Charinga Merino Stud holds its On Property Sale on Monday, October 6, 2025, starting at 1 PM, with inspections from 10 AM. The sale offers 200 rams and 300 commercially focused ewes and is held in conjunction with the Banavie Merino Stud at their Berrimal property. There's nothing quite like the annual Barley Banquet which is quite literally held (October 18) in the middle of a Barley Paddock at Rupanyup. This year its on Saturday 18 October and will host 400 guests for an afternoon of fine food, live music and local beer and wine. Communities across the North East and Border are set to benefit from new funding directed towards projects addressing the impacts of climate change. It’s through The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s Community-Led Climate Solutions program. The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority is preparing up for its Small Blocks Big Dreams workshops across the Heytesbury region and has also advanced its Drought Employment Program.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
