The arrival of Heinrich Kreische in La Grange would mark a turning point in the history of Fayette County. Kreische built a brewery on the bluff overlooking La Grange. Begun in 1860 and completed in 1866 Kreische's Bluff Beer soon became the third largest brewery in the state of Texas.
